Getting to the Island

Cumberland Island is accessible only by boat. The Greyfield Inn operates a private ferry from Fernandina Beach, Florida, and your stay includes the ferry ride to and from the island, as well as parking on the mainland during your stay.

Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is the closest airport, about 45 minutes by car from the ferry dock in Fernandina Beach. Uber is an option, or you can arrange transportation in advance through a car service recommended by the inn.

Please arrive at the dock 15 minutes before your departure time.

When to Arrive

Since Cumberland Island is accessible only by boat, we recommend planning your travel around the ferry schedule.

For guests traveling from the West Coast or farther away, there are not currently direct flights to Jacksonville from many western cities. We recommend traveling on Thursday and spending Thursday night in Fernandina Beach so you can take the 9:30 am ferry on Friday without having to worry about making a tight connection between your flight and the ferry.

For guests traveling from Boston, there are nonstop flights from Logan (BOS) to Jacksonville (JAX). We recommend booking the earliest nonstop flight available on Friday morning so you have enough time to travel from JAX to the ferry dock and make the 12:15 pm ferry. We'll share more specific flight recommendations once schedules for our wedding weekend are available.

If you'd prefer to arrive Thursday night, that's also a great option.

Coming from Farther Away

If you're traveling from farther away and planning to take the 9:30 am ferry on Friday, we recommend staying in Fernandina Beach on Thursday night. This will give you plenty of time to get to the ferry without worrying about a delayed flight or an early-morning drive.

If You Miss the Ferry

If you miss the last scheduled ferry, Greyfield can arrange a charter boat if a captain is available. The cost is $450 plus tax, charged to the guest, and Greyfield must arrange the charter. Guests are not permitted to arrange their own charter boats.

Staying at the Greyfield Inn

Friends are staying at the Greyfield Inn, and we've reserved the entire inn for the weekend. Meals are included with your stay: dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.

Cost of Your Stay

We've reserved the entire Greyfield Inn for the weekend and will be covering the majority of the cost. Guests will pay $125 per person, per night toward their stay.

For most guests staying Friday and Saturday night, that comes to $250 per person total. This includes your accommodations, meals throughout the weekend, ferry transportation to and from the island, parking in Fernandina Beach, and use of the inn's amenities and equipment.

After you RSVP, we'll send you instructions for making your payment toward your room and providing transport and dining details. You don't need to contact the inn or make any payment before then.

Room Assignments

Cat and Ledyard will be coordinating room assignments based on RSVPs. We'll take into account the information you provide when you RSVP and will share your room assignment and additional details closer to the wedding.

Check-In and Check-Out

Check-in: Guest rooms are available after 1:30 pm on Friday. If you arrive on the 9:30 am or 12:15 pm ferry, you can leave your luggage with the inn and enjoy the common areas and amenities while your room is being prepared.

Check-out: Check-out timing depends on which ferry you take back to Fernandina Beach:

Staying Somewhere Else

We know there are camping options on the island and hotels in Fernandina Beach, but we're asking all of our guests to stay at the inn or in the McFadden homes. We've reserved the entire inn for the weekend, and we'd love to have everyone together for the full weekend.
